  1. Let's get started. Welcome back to another episode of I Will Not Lose Podcast. Good morning,

  2. good evening, good night, good afternoon, whatever time you're listening in, wherever

  3. you're listening from. Could have been anywhere in the world, but you're here. Take a moment

  4. to be present and recognize that it's now, right now. Whether you're right now is working,

  5. running, flying, driving, recording a podcast. Be thankful we're alive, baby. Failure can

  6. be frightening however as winston churchill reminds us success is all about going from

  7. failure to failure without losing enthusiasm this is i will not lose podcast where we set out to

  8. learn everything is learned from failure we must persevere and recognize it as one step closer to

  9. success we brought him back by popular demand we got law the barber i'm your host tony ortiz and

  10. we're here with law the barber good morning good morning we're gonna give an introduction for

  11. people that didn't tune into the last episode okay so uh uh social media named lauren uh law

  12. the barber um named lawrence right um owner of the barber pill which is a small upscale barber shop

  13. in bethlehem pennsylvania and uh so far so good um building a true good community out of this uh

  14. six-year run that i had so far and a lot has changed a lot of you know a lot of different

  15. things came up uh actually the book bag drive was very successful you just had the book bag drive

  16. yep um wasn't expecting the news to be there but it happened and the right message got conveyed

  17. that you know when we do things like that we want to do it um in the right aspect for for the right

  18. reasons all the time because um that one particularly made me realize and it was my

  19. second time doing it by myself like that with carter and um sharonda miss debbie hasiel helped

  20. out and a host of others that donated you know thank them all um for what they did and especially

  21. the folks who came out in the morning to help me um carter came earlier than everybody else to set

  22. certain things up and once he did that everybody followed suit so it was great um uh particularly

  23. want to mention a family that came and uh that kind of set the tone for the day for me well tell

  24. me about it so i was a young lady with four kids and um she uh was very transparent about um what

  25. what it meant to her um in terms of um having support like that in the community and uh it

  26. kind of opened up my eyes you know made me see how much fortunate most of us are versus someone

  27. who's in a kind of like a tough spot and um when the help is there it's it's such a great thing to

  28. see that um that what we did um helped her in such a great way yeah that was brave of her to come out

  29. and be vocal about it yes i was very i she was on the news right i did see the news clip yes that

  30. was her yes oh that's amazing and i'm like man um yeah that one got me a little bit so i just had

  31. to mention that one it was still on my mind fresh so oh that's sad to say it put a perspective on

  32. the things we do in the community it really does matter absolutely whether any kind of business

  33. but specifically a barbershop because it's so different it's so much more intimate in terms

  34. of you getting to know people over years you know it could be um how you like pass down a torch

  35. right um you start cutting the son then the son becomes a girl you know a teenager then he becomes

  36. a man then he starts his family but before him was his father right and and so on and so forth

  37. it's the same thing with people in the community how you build your rapport and how you do things

  38. it really does matter i hear that man i had a blessed week i had a couple things that put into

  39. perspective just what we do why we do it you know oh man speaking of that uh as i was telling you

  40. this story earlier about you know like remember the last episode we talked about mental health and

  41. um uh that has um is still there and i'm still making sure that people know that you should be

  42. aware uh you should check on someone um each day whoever you pick you know it could be any random

  43. person just make sure you check on somebody um because you just never know where they are yeah

  44. and that happened a couple of times um especially this week um that happened yesterday to me

  45. actually and it was a good thing my wife mentioned the person and i hadn't check up with this person

  46. in a while so i'm like wow for her to say that name it kind of triggered me so i was like oh man

  47. let me let me really put out a call and see what happened and lo and behold that person was going

  48. through a rough time yeah yeah so they needed you yeah yeah i mean i needed to hear them and they

  49. needed to hear me yeah you know what i mean it's a way to put it it's a support system so

  50. it goes both ways nice man yeah nice i gotta get are you gonna be over at the barber shop

  51. this afternoon i know you guys meet up every friday um they'll they usually come out at

  52. spur of the moment sometimes um well we know my four o'clock's gonna be there no matter what

  53. so that's about the time when everybody starts coming so we'll be there um well at least me and

  54. him i know will be there um the other guy you know they all have stuff going so we'll see if

  55. everybody shows up sometimes they pop up in spurts sometimes it's fredo you know drain surgeon we

  56. mentioned that yeah big shout out to fredo exalt jujitsu imec power sometimes hasiel

  57. um wagner and my man tony here will show up so that's pretty much the it or renard may pop up

  58. once in a while so there you go those are the names you know um but it's it's good to have guys

  59. like you around though so you know i learn things from all of you even though you might not think so

  60. but i pick up on things and uh it's very helpful to have a good group of guys like you around so

  61. that we can have a support system for each other yeah absolutely reach out to these guys at a

  62. couple yeah here pull do me a favor pull the mic a little closer to you yeah that sounds good um

  63. so what else are you working on what do you have in the works another book bag drive just went by

  64. right um i'm thinking of um doing a coat drive and um i want to assist um carter with his uh

  65. turkey drive if he does have it um don't want to talk too fast but that's the idea um if he does it

  66. I'm going to go in and help out and we're going to see how many, uh, more people that we can get

  67. to support that cause. And obviously, you know what, this is for people who are less fortunate,

  68. who don't have, um, people who can't afford it, homeless, if you're home, you know what I mean?

  69. So every little bit counts, every little bit helps. Every little bit counts, man. That's a

  70. great way to put it. Every little bit helps. Cause you know, sometimes you see like these

  71. huge companies doing these large drives and you know they may be doing it for a tax write-off and

  72. they may hit a large impact you know but it's good to know a little bit that you do effects like

  73. sometimes like you say even if it's just one person you know somebody listening is going to

  74. pick up and be like of course man there's people i didn't even know there was people doing stuff

  75. like this allentown bethlem you know that's what happened with the book bag drive and for us to get

  76. to those people um really and truly though the book bag drive i wanted to get to the people who

  77. are um afraid to ask for help yeah um sometimes pride gets in the way and that sucks but um

  78. really and truly those are the people i was trying to get to come out but we got to the

  79. ones that we got to and i'm pretty sure the next time around they'll be there

  80. you know because now they know we'll be there and it's a consistency thing um when i was

  81. coined coining the term building a cornerstone um i kind of took a page out of bob marley's book

  82. because the builder refused that song he talks about how the builder refused that stone that

  83. same stone became a great stone which he was talking about him okay you know his father

  84. rejecting him right um i'm not familiar with that but that's great when you look it up you'll see

  85. what i'm talking about um so that was a special story about barb marley and his between his him

  86. and his dad but the cornerstone like building a cornerstone um you want to be um present and um

  87. active in your community right and that's what the barbershop is pretty much that's what we do

  88. um it's not just about cutting hair and um sometimes it doesn't look that way at first

  89. and then after the cutting hair gets to be a natural thing now the work um the rest of the

  90. work has to be done now because now you have community relations and how you deal with the

  91. community right so the consistency of us let's say every august now i'm going to do the book bag

  92. drive every august now so that it's a consistent thing and that's what i think resonates with a

  93. lot of folks if you're consistent with it you're good about doing it and it's genuine you're you're

  94. really showing that you care and we forget about those things sometimes we just said the little

  95. things you just have to make sure you show genuinely that you do care and you care what

  96. happens to people absolutely because we lost we lost some of that and i was telling that to um

  97. the interviewer from 69 news that um some people haven't bounced back from that whole

  98. covid situation and are still struggling you know so it anything like that that we can do

  99. to put people back on track let's just say yeah um and i always say if you're blessed i think we

  100. should bless others if you're blessed like a turkey drive that's such a great way because

  101. you know food's expensive absolutely oh my gosh it turns into memories you know what i mean you

  102. have a nice turkey you have a you know nice sides and stuff like that yeah i remember the bad

  103. thanksgivings you know what i mean and right it's nice to to put something nice even if it's small

  104. you could be appreciative for it so think about this so let let's take a mind journey real quick

  105. So you're thinking about the hot food.

  106. You're there with people that you love, right?

  107. We all care about each other.

  108. And now we're sharing a meal together, like breaking bread.

  109. That's a wonderful feeling.

  110. Yeah, there's something about sharing a meal.

  111. That's the one thing that I won't, in terms of Zoom meetings versus meeting in person.

  112. There's this whole thing, like after the pandemic, it's acceptable.

  113. It was really hard to get somebody for a Zoom meeting before that.

  114. now people are like oh do i have that as an option right but to set myself up and be like okay um

  115. i'm not gonna meet anybody in person sometimes there's a connection where you just you know

  116. you share a sandwich over lunch or even sharing a cup of coffee something about what we're doing

  117. food it's uh it's definitely something intimate it's that's cool man it's hospitality i i think

  118. it's um a part of being um grateful it's gratitude to show that you appreciate someone you know and

  119. that goes a long way and these these are the little things that we talk about that we all

  120. sometimes may forget you know how how grateful that we should be remember we were we just said

  121. this this morning right thankful that we got up this morning right yeah and that's the start of

  122. it you know because without that you can't go any further because we all know somebody didn't make

  123. it today nah you know an exercise in gratitude i was working with a coach one time and he's like

  124. tell me something you're grateful for and i'm like you know my wife and he's like it's easy to be

  125. grateful for your wife like you're picking the the big things because i need to train you to be

  126. grateful for that pencil on the desk in front of you right and that kind of switched my perspective

  127. i'm like okay so you switched your brain like that you know flipped it even when we uh it was

  128. funny i had my buddy johnny in here last week and we had uh we had a picture up of when i'll show it

  129. to you i had a monitor stand yeah with my mic's garbage tied to like where it was and the way

  130. that the monitor would swivel i had like this much room to come back and forth and get the sweet spot

  131. and i did that for like for months oh man but i was so grateful that when we had the idea we wanted

  132. to put out an episode for gil thompson that turned into all this and now we have the whole set see uh

  133. but we just we did what we had and dude these are they're not expensive they're not expensive but

  134. we had what you know i was grateful for what we had i wasn't sitting there like oh i'm not

  135. gonna do this now because we don't have right you know you used what you had you used your resources

  136. and and there we go back to what we were saying using your resources the things around you and

  137. um i mean i've got this from a lot of people that they didn't know it was a barbershop which is

  138. pretty i mean to me it's pretty cool that it's just there and those who know and who come there

  139. know it's there but it's for the people who walk by it every day and not know what it what it is

  140. yeah you can't really you can't really tell from the outside yeah i pulled up to the place next to

  141. And I thought I was in the wrong place.

  142. The GPS takes you to the, the, like the, is that the lawyers next door?

  143. Yeah.

  144. Well, well, um, it's the, uh, the apartment building and then you got the

  145. salon and then the library across the street, maybe that's what I was looking

  146. at the salon and I was like, is he cutting out of the salon or, I don't know.

  147. It usually takes them right there.

  148. But then when they, once they pull up, they see the barber pill in the window.

  149. Yep.

  150. So for those that don't know, Law has a single chair barbershop in Bethlehem, PA.

  151. um really high tech too you book through an app he has his own app with the i don't know if you

  152. guys can see on the camera but we have the logo um the barber pill yes but you go and click that

  153. logo on the app go and set up booking i know people use like uh different booking apps but

  154. yeah i don't know anybody that has their own that's actually you had that a while for a while

  155. For a while, yeah, because it was Jason Majors.

  156. I forgot to mention Jason because Jason comes by too.

  157. Yeah, to the barbershop.

  158. Yeah, so he told me one day, he's like, why are you being stubborn?

  159. You should just get electronic booking, you know, stop writing appointments down.

  160. And I was like, now I got to deal with all this, you know, internet stuff.

  161. You know, I didn't really want to go that route.

  162. So I decided to call up Efex Apps.

  163. And he said, okay, I said, how much to build the app?

  164. he tells me what will it be a month he tells me and i'm like all right let's do it because

  165. it would be an investment for a lifetime that's how i looked at it and i'm like okay if this is

  166. going to be really serious i have to get serious with how i do business you know what i mean so

  167. um watching tyreek tuesdays and how he mentioned you know he's giving the tale of the story

  168. of how tyreek built his app through effects and what it has done how it has changed buildings

  169. how businesses are built and how the payment system is set up.

  170. And I had to learn all those things.

  171. And once you learn it, it becomes a lifesaver because, you know,

  172. I think I had mentioned this in the first episode,

  173. how the wife was like, why are they calling you at this time?

  174. And so I had to cut, we had to end that.

  175. We had to stop that.

  176. So we had to stop that.

  177. So I said, okay, let me build an app.

  178. But even though I built an app, what I did was I put the link on all the social media.

  179. So wherever the barber pill is, wherever a lot of the barber is, I've tried to put a link, whether to the website, because you can book from the website and the app's embedded with that link to it.

  180. So I put one everywhere, but people are still old fashioned.

  181. They'll walk up to the barbershop and, hey, can I get a haircut?

  182. And I'm like, well, unfortunately I do everything by appointments and this is my spiel to the persons who are going to walk through the door.

  183. some of them don't know so I spend the time to explain how it works and that's it you know

  184. it's disappointing when they can't get the haircut that they walked up to the barbershop for but

  185. on my sites I put appointments only for a reason right but some some people are unaware of that

  186. and I get I get it so I continue to push the app and I continue to let them know it's free to

  187. download so if you download it you can see all the appointments that are available you can book

  188. whichever day it's a free-for-all um there are rules you have to cancel before 24 hours just

  189. like a doctor's office or you're gonna get charged do you pay right through the app too

  190. absolutely there's a paid system in there they pay they could make a deposit or pay for the full

  191. haircut yeah man so you're on another level with that just an easy way to do it and then

  192. on top of it because i know how it goes once they get there they're gonna want another way to pay

  193. let's say they made a deposit and they want a complete payment right i decided to come up with

  194. getting the zelle getting um i was cash app venmo all the other ones because you never know and i

  195. have a credit card um card readers and stuff like that because nobody really carries cash that much

  196. anymore i mean i know some guys who are old school i only take cash out really when i'm getting a

  197. haircut for the most part right so you know there's still right so i would carry cash because

  198. i still do but um in our day and age most of everything is not necessary well everything

  199. mostly electronic for me i wish it was just one app but no i do the same thing with my clients i

  200. except Venmo, PayPal, Cash App.

  201. And then everybody's like, oh, I have Apple Pay.

  202. That's like the one thing that I don't.

  203. You know, you brought up a sore subject,

  204. even though I'm not an Apple guy, right?

  205. But I had to get with the program, right?

  206. So I ended up getting a-

  207. Wait, get with what program?

  208. Getting an iPad so I can see what the app-

  209. Why do you have, that's not-

  210. Because I had to know, because you know what?

  211. There was a bug on my app that I couldn't relate to

  212. because i have an android so i needed to i needed to see what these apple users were telling me

  213. because we had an incident and this person was describing this horrendous it sounded crazy to me

  214. so i'm like okay you know what i'm gonna resolve that issue i'm gonna get an apple device and get

  215. an apple thing you know what is apple id yeah so you have to get one of those and then you set it

  216. up and obviously my my app is on the apple platform so i i have something of the sort for

  217. that right but it was to see the bugs that they're telling me because i can't i don't know what to

  218. tell them because i don't have an apple phone so i don't know what the bug is you had to troubleshoot

  219. so i ended up doing that and once i went into my app kind of made some changes re-download it

  220. and re-save everything kind of went smooth and if i had a problem i can always call effects to

  221. resolve it remotely for me so it's kind of it's a lifesaver it took the stress off of me worrying

  222. about people for the most part but i do have the people who still you know come in and walking and

  223. stuff like that but yeah you're gonna have that i still people still write me checks i'm like yeah

  224. but take all this electronic uh well yeah you know usually if it has to go through an accounting

  225. department or something i guess they can't really just sign on cash exactly right exactly so now i

  226. have um scan to pay also yeah i saw that in your shop yeah so i have the little guy and it's the

  227. same system that's inside the app which is great so now it's uniform now if they come i said okay

  228. just scan the uh paypal right there and you pay that's it because you could be a guest you don't

  229. have to necessarily have a i think a paypal to do that you can just pay just like that and i have a

  230. card um it's almost like when you go to a show and you want someone to pay for products so i have

  231. this card key that's a pull string that i could just show them and they scan to pay if i'm ever

  232. out yeah it's pretty cool nice nice just little things for them you know i gotta get up on some

  233. stuff like that just for the coolness factor i do have something with my business card i gotta put

  234. you onto it uh the qr code when they scan it it opens up their contacts and it pre-fills all my

  235. information my website my social media oh i think carter did some type of scan thing on the back of

  236. the uh on my business card for me i think carter has the beacon he had uh he has like the little

  237. website that has his links to all this stuff yes yes so he definitely so he changed it shout out

  238. to carter i hope he's feeling better yeah carter man you are the guy man he was supposed to be here

  239. today with us yeah right oh man but i hope he's feeling better but yeah he has these little

  240. gadgets, man. He knows how to work his way, you know, internet wise, you know, websites and all

  241. this stuff. He's definitely social media savvy. I have some photos he took from the last photo

  242. party that I got to post. Oh, okay. Yeah. Oh man, definitely. I was asking him for something to

  243. push that even though it was supposed to be today, it's not going to be anymore, but.

  244. Yeah, that broke my heart. Yeah. I was excited about that. I was excited to go to that. I was

  245. all prepped and ready i had my chair i had my station i had my table yeah i was ready i don't

  246. know maybe it'll work out better not being over the holiday or something i think i think everything

  247. worked out for a reason yeah so i think it's going to be even better now that he you know that this

  248. little hiccup happened you know i appreciate him taking it so seriously you know what i mean he

  249. could have just said well nobody's taking this serious anymore and oh no no he had the party but

  250. so i i spoke to him yesterday and i said way to uh take the responsibility it's almost like when

  251. And when I caught that, I had to shut down.

  252. I let the customers know who came that day.

  253. I called each one.

  254. It's all about the responsibility.

  255. Because remember, if I'm servicing people, I'm responsible for your health and well-being if you're in the shop.

  256. Yeah.

  257. Well, as a barber, you got to.

  258. Yeah, you got to.

  259. I have to touch you.

  260. I'm in your space.

  261. I was just going to say, that's a contact sport.

  262. Yeah.

  263. Exactly.

  264. So, you know, I think that's great.

  265. he took the initiative and uh you know that that's the way you have to do it oh man so i wanted to

  266. talk a little bit you're testing for belt stripe man yeah this is coming up man what a crazy

  267. so the savage race i forgot to update you so the savage race went well um had a a three three man

  268. team this time um and uh matt who is a triathlon shout out to matt who's going to europe to go

  269. participate in the iron man contest oh wow so yeah um he won this the the race itself he was first

  270. um wow i was 18th and i forgot what um alex brother um oh man i'm throwing a blank

  271. but um he was the third guy and um we did good overall we all showed up we all finished

  272. that was i think i saw you have pictures of the finish yes right right so i yeah i'll throw them

  273. up and and uh yeah i'll send it to you um so that was an accomplishment itself because i was

  274. training since february for that yeah we talked did we talk about it on the last podcast yes yes

  275. Because some people made a commitment and they all like, in the end, nobody showed.

  276. Anyway, so it was supposed to be a couple of guys jumping on this one, but it didn't work out that way.

  277. So the very first one was my motivation.

  278. So it was me and Wagner.

  279. So you remember Wagner.

  280. So me and Wagner went to the first one and that was it.

  281. I was hooked.

  282. So I said, you know what?

  283. This is definitely something to look forward to.

  284. and it's um an accomplishment in terms of you have to work for it you can't just show up and

  285. run that race you have to be prepared right just like anything else you you have to be prepared

  286. for certain things you can't just go out and you know like this test coming up mentally that's

  287. draining this this whole preparation it's like the the the fight or flight and so explain for

  288. people that don't know about the the test what are you testing for all right what sport i'm i'm a

  289. part of kim's black belt academy um it has three schools one in allentown one in bethlehem one in

  290. quaker town and um so i'm going for the fourth dan test this time around so it's it's gonna be

  291. a challenge and uh i'm a little nervous but i'm working my way that's why i keep running with

  292. to keep my level of um i'd say cardio cardio because it's not going to be easy and i know

  293. master kim is very tricky so i have to expect the unexpected because he will just switch it on you

  294. on that day so i had him he did that to me one time i was supposed to do a specific kick and

  295. he's like nope you're gonna do this kick so it's almost like let's say somebody see your potential

  296. and they know you can do something,

  297. they'll say, okay, I'm going to bump you a level up

  298. because I know you can do this.

  299. Yeah, I can see that.

  300. And he'll do that to challenge you.

  301. So that's part of it.

  302. So there's a level of preparation

  303. and then a level of unpreparation

  304. because you got to just deal with it.

  305. Because you have to expect the unexpected, yeah.

  306. Aye, aye, aye.

  307. Yeah, so that's what's coming up.

  308. So I'm going to keep running.

  309. But that's so adaptable to life.

  310. There's so many things in life you're like,

  311. okay i have to lay this out or set this up i mean even just like uh anything could go wrong with

  312. all these different cameras and microphones and stuff people see one right steady conversation

  313. but there's a lot that comes to put that together exactly you know exactly we're in a set right now

  314. it's so bright he's got the sunglasses yeah right i had to i was like wow like you changed it you

  315. change it around so pending this test you'll be uh what like what's your title or no it's it's

  316. well it's not about title because um he asked me one day i had a conversation with him and i was

  317. like um can i um order the belt without the stripes because i don't the stripes don't really

  318. prove a lot to me anyway um um and i took a page out of his book because he never wears his stripes

  319. so he just wears a plain old belt yeah like a plane you know but i just see that as a sign of

  320. being humble and um i think i i took that i took a page out of his book with that so um it's not

  321. the title it's what i can offer back to the students who are coming up behind me that's how

  322. i look at it so anytime he'll ask me to like let's say lead class or teach class i'm honored

  323. you know um so it teaches me lessons too by teaching you know what i can do better what i

  324. can improve on and i get feedback a lot from the students you know um great class today but you

  325. know that lets me know i'm i'm at least doing um a good job with lead you know giving them their

  326. workouts and and make it meaningful every time they come to class oh man yeah see that's why

  327. you guys inspire me i'm like like everybody's doing multiple things you know what i mean it's

  328. not like you were just training for the savage race you know you have the entrepreneur going on

  329. the other side working putting everything together yeah and then you're looking at uh

  330. we have to is it too early to talk about the building uh yeah so that now what i did was i

  331. held off on the building so um a couple of things happened so with those it it comes to well this

  332. all came to light um investors are coming in the area and just snatching up buildings so after the

  333. first one that they took took off the market um the second building i found it was it was not in

  334. contract at the time i'm guessing but as we dug in to see what was going on it went under contract

  335. and then boom they just bought it right away it was like one two three it's like something is you

  336. know obviously bethlehem's growing yeah so you you know obviously investors are going to come

  337. around and you know get whatever big properties on whatever main street that you can get you know

  338. in terms of business that's great because it's the same thing with um oh shout out to bethlehem

  339. food co-op and north side alive so bethlehem food co-op is getting um their own location

  340. and you see it's on broad street because there's a lot going on on broad street especially in the

  341. downtown little area there yeah and that building is going to be a new building i don't know what

  342. else is going to be in there but i know the food co-op is going to be in that building so i just

  343. say i'm just going to wait i don't want to rush because when you rush things like that you all

  344. usually can jump into a situation that you might not be ready for so i i i took a heat of caution

  345. my wife um said you know let's just wait you know let's let's look at keep looking obviously

  346. and then when the right situation comes up it'll come so in the meantime it's a month-to-month

  347. situation and you know we'll see what what happens with with this because i don't know

  348. if she's going to come up with a new lease or whatever but you know i was too happy about the

  349. last one but you know it's all good i i see what the trend was the trend was to jack up rent by all

  350. these um landlords you know um and basically for for money purposes you know what i mean yeah it's

  351. not really increased service you're not adding new additions onto the building or and yeah because

  352. you know if you were okay so if you're a landlord you're doing the work and you're taking care of

  353. the place all right well we can see how that can even out but when you're not doing the work and

  354. you know, things like that.

  355. It's just crazy.

  356. But either way, I adjusted

  357. and I'm just going to make it work

  358. for what it is right now, wherever I'm at.

  359. But I'll be there until I don't have to be there.

  360. So I already have my storage set up.

  361. Like we said, we're grateful for it.

  362. Hey, grateful for what is there.

  363. Yeah, exactly.

  364. So I'm also grateful that I have a storage

  365. just in case something crazy happens.

  366. I could, you know, take the whole first floor

  367. and that's it.

  368. So I'm trying to work on emptying out the lower area.

  369. that's cool you know just clear it out just so i can have a peace of mind and i don't have to go

  370. down the in the basement for anything and that's it and i'm just gonna keep you know doing what i'm

  371. doing we'll keep the people posted yeah definitely keep doing what you're doing absolutely man i'm

  372. gonna keep on doing my part you know that's all i could do is my part and i'm grateful for the

  373. people who are willing to help me and along the way yeah do you have anybody else you want to

  374. shout out oh man so who didn't we shout out today oh shout out to marv he's not here anymore but

  375. on demand detailing that's my guy um he's in georgia now though um shout out to black viper

  376. entertainment uh hopefully i'm not forgetting anybody here you gotta introduce me to some of

  377. these people oh man so uh oh romeo g i just met him part of carter dj dj yeah shout out to dj i

  378. just ran into him i've seen him a couple places since the photo party he was the last person to

  379. come with a delivery i think when the backpack drive shout out to hasiel obviously i i said i

  380. didn't really um shout him out um and jason that i didn't talk about so jason's usually the brains

  381. we call him the brain because he comes real estate right well he comes up with these ideas man um but

  382. it's so unique that we have different like you know when we come up with ideas and and things

  383. like that um it's it's really cool talking with him his perspective is so different it's um

  384. more on like i would say the level side of things you know so it's kind of great to have that

  385. balance you know it's the same thing isaiah comes up with good ideas we're afraid oh um what are we

  386. getting together for dinner again so that's the plan now we have to come up with um where we're

  387. in terms of goals obviously we're gonna do this again um so isaiah said he doesn't like to make

  388. the dates anymore so i'm gonna kind of reach out to everybody in the group text and see what when

  389. we could come up with a date you know summer's over you know pretty much it's coming to an end

  390. so we gotta um you know come up with some some meeting times even if it's recording over the

  391. holiday oh i uh well it's the holiday yeah right now yeah you look exactly every day he's like he

  392. was like oh you didn't know it was the holiday yes it's labor day every day weekend so fast

  393. i may drop this i don't know if i'm gonna drop this on the holiday or just put some filler

  394. episode well nobody i'm not gonna have anybody's attention oh my god well shout out to my wife

  395. velma so it's our anniversary over this weekend oh happy anniversary how long oh man 13

  396. Oh, wow.

  397. Yeah, 13, yeah.

  398. We just celebrated seven.

  399. We're getting there, we're getting there.

  400. So 2010, right?

  401. That makes it, yeah, that makes it 13.

  402. Man.

  403. Yeah, 13 and then 23 or 24.

  404. So I met her in 2001.

  405. Oh, you guys were together for 10 years before you got married?

  406. Yeah, yeah.

  407. That's awesome.

  408. You guys do anything special?

  409. Yeah, we're going to do probably like a group massage

  410. and then maybe a dinner or something.

  411. you know dinner lunch something like that real nice man man just nice and easy you know takes

  412. work you got to have that balance if you're training for savage races and fourth degree

  413. black belt taekwondo and training and running hard work yeah then we see him over at jujitsu

  414. shout out to evan exalt jujitsu yep shout out to evan i'm gonna have him on sounds like something's

  415. going on i didn't account for the fact that uh people will be home today oh boy that's all right

  416. it's hey that's like show must go on hey it's life man definitely just like anything else you

  417. know but do you have any other main points you want to go over uh yeah so the last thing was um

  418. like we were talking about the mental health so i'll keep pushing the mental health as i said um

  419. definitely working closely with preventive measures and i'm going to continue to do the walks

  420. which every year that's going to happen um i think may right may is usually around when that happens

  421. um like i said uh community events um being active staying active um continue to cut hair

  422. and change lives one one day at a time so one person at a time it's only one chair so as long

  423. as i'm there and i have health and strength i'll continue to do it shout out there you go man

  424. that's the best you know that's the best way to even go about that you know well shout out to the

  425. barber bill we got to do a whole episode on mental health that'll be pretty cool yeah because yeah

  426. share stories i got stories when it comes down i've been through some things and yeah it's it's

  427. strange because we don't live in a society where it's like uh men are allowed to open up or be

  428. vulnerable or share do something like that yeah so i just say like all right forget that i'm gonna

  429. make a podcast about it so yeah it's cool and then people do reach out yeah people reach out

  430. personally so by you going out there and speaking and being vocal about things because it's serious

  431. it's a really um you know it's it's not a situation until it is a situation and all i'm

  432. trying to do is make sure it doesn't become a situation and the last thing you want if it is

  433. a situation is to be like i can't talk to anybody it's right i mean you see what i'm saying so this

  434. is why i always say at the if i have a little um skit or or a story i always say make sure you

  435. check on somebody today that's important i'm gonna do that right after this episode and you know

  436. because you you never know and it's a it's a good habit to keep because it may come back just might

  437. come back to you somebody will call you to check on you you know yes i think i think it's a good

  438. thing man well grateful i'm in a good place right now yeah you know this was nice yeah man this is

  439. always a pleasure welcome to come back anytime we'll do something uh absolutely for season four

  440. okay no worries um hopefully i'll be around hopefully i still gotta get um i don't have my

  441. ending memorized oh you're ending but you gotta you gotta pretty much thank you for listening

  442. thank you for the support check out i will not lose podcast.com i gotta put a little

  443. i'll uh do some practice and memorize it or i'll punch it in and just cut this off and put the

  444. perfect ending on it or whatnot you know i should this is a perfect ending this is a perfect ending

  445. us laughing because we just had a great conversation right yeah no absolutely cheers

  446. that's hot yeah man cheers grateful for this coffee it's not starbucks no but hey listen

  447. this is the best stuff the homemade yeah man thanks for having me yeah definitely appreciate

  448. Thank you for listening.
