A Conversation With My Teenage Son: Dismantling Misogyny Transcript [00:00:01.150] Microphone check. What's up, folks? Just a quick disclaimer for my audio listeners. [00:00:05.910] This episode is a little bit different from our normal format. It's extremely special. [00:00:10.930] It's a conversation with me and my son. So we've recorded it a few weeks ago and decided to drop [00:00:17.630] it for his 13th birthday weekend this past weekend, March 11th. So if you're listening in, [00:00:24.150] it's still a good experience, but we do reference some of his drawings, YouTube videos, and we talk [00:00:29.910] about things that do have a visual reference so if you guys have been listening in you know i'm [00:00:34.690] all about audio first and making sure it looks and sounds good but this one you may want to watch in [00:00:41.510] so it's up there on youtube go ahead and check it out if not keep listening in we're gonna get [00:00:47.900] started all right what's up we doing this yeah tell the people who you are i'm jayden and what's [00:01:01.200] your last name ortiz jayden ortiz what do you do man um i do uh mostly i draw i do mma and i'm [00:01:08.680] also artists and singing and stuff oh that's dope man draw mma artists and singing i mean i skateboard [00:01:15.820] a little bit too not to brag i seen you put that tiktok edit together with uh that started with [00:01:23.820] your kickflip or no was it a pop shove it you did yeah that's lit um yeah so we don't have to tell [00:01:33.660] the people how we're related people wonder they're looking at your cool jacket like yo it's nuts [00:01:40.080] but yeah i wanted to show you how this stuff works i kind of built this for you man um i was really [00:01:46.820] into audio when i was little and recording and it's just a dope power to be able to have so i [00:01:54.020] don't know man uh what do you want to talk about let's start with the drawing what do you like to [00:01:59.140] draw uh mostly just sometimes i started i started out with anime and then i came more towards like [00:02:05.300] realistic drawings like martin luther king i did for martin luther king day do you have that [00:02:10.540] martin luther king drawing yeah i've probably have it somewhere but i don't have it with me [00:02:15.180] right now no that's dope but you're gonna help me uh we can throw it up here so if you want to [00:02:20.960] talk about the drawing just picture in your head and i'll make sure it's up there but uh what else [00:02:26.420] you said name some drawings i'll put them up if you have them i could take a picture of them and [00:02:30.620] throw them in the video yeah i mean i also did for halloween i made it like a ghost face one [00:02:35.900] took a lot of time and a lot of shading but yeah that was mostly pretty much it took it was like a [00:02:42.180] long process i usually just watch tutorials and stuff and it helps me like a picture what i want [00:02:48.880] to draw sometimes i mix it up with the tutorials and just like fix some stuff i like that's dope [00:02:57.400] like uh do you follow any specific tutorials you want to shout out any channels or not i don't [00:03:03.140] really i follow whatever i like i said like spots by eye so i'm like oh that looks cool i want to [00:03:08.340] recreate that in my own way you find it on like tiktok or sometimes on tiktok i find it mostly [00:03:14.080] on youtube that's dope i can't wait to see your own style this is wild man you're like uh into [00:03:21.360] mad stuff that i'm into is it like are you naturally into it or did you do it because [00:03:26.240] i picked up drawing because you were always drawing for me when i was a little kid when i [00:03:31.100] asked something you'd always pick it up and just draw it oh that's right yeah that was probably [00:03:35.800] some of the last times i was drawing i haven't drawn in like 10 years yeah i mean i've doodled [00:03:40.880] stuff since then but nothing really crazy and then the video that's you're gonna surpass me in [00:03:47.580] that i only got into it a few years you've been doing it what this whole year yeah i've been doing [00:03:53.100] yeah about this whole year maybe a little bit last year i wasn't really too much into it but [00:03:58.380] i started growing more towards it i gotta figure out if i can get some of your edits up there [00:04:05.280] because this is a promotion for you this is dope man we throw this in a time capsule so we did uh [00:04:10.440] this isn't your first debut on youtube yeah nah what was your what was your first debut my first [00:04:16.720] one was like kids with toys with my with my step sister in there so we were doing like little toy [00:04:23.520] unboxings and stuff big shout out to leila we will uh put those clips up that'll be great you guys [00:04:30.260] look so much different like it's insane but that's up there it's forever that was a big flex when you [00:04:36.660] guys were in middle school to be able to be like yo we're on youtube prove it just look at it from [00:04:42.000] every phone uh the video quality was horrible i had no idea what i was doing back then we had [00:04:47.700] that little kitchen lamp yeah we had it like on top of like the baker dresser thing oh yeah yeah [00:04:54.260] it was clamped it was like we couldn't jump at all it would just like shake every time the steady [00:04:59.640] motion would not there oh yeah i didn't even have it on a tripod no you just had it like sitting up [00:05:05.420] on there like i remember we're doing our yo-yo video a while back yeah we were just doing that [00:05:11.480] stuff and we were jumping around and it was shaking the whole camera you can probably see [00:05:14.820] it in the video that's hilarious i gotta go back and that's probably still up there wow that's [00:05:19.360] crazy that's crazy but it's cool to look back on stuff i have files going back to i think 2014 or [00:05:28.660] 15 i had some from 2011 but i was definitely creating professional work and i don't know [00:05:36.920] if i'd call it professional but well yeah people paid me for it so it's professional but uh no i [00:05:43.020] look at some of my old stuff and it's reckless even some of my old podcasts this is gonna be [00:05:48.890] the best episode yet yeah for real but all right so let me get through the uh the intros we'll get [00:05:57.450] through the intros get into some stuff and then you're gonna educate me on a couple of things so [00:06:01.970] all right how uh you watch the show you know how i start yeah go ahead no i don't know all of it [00:06:08.230] though just start i'll pick it up how i so you go like towards like what's up listeners like [00:06:15.030] spotify and on i'm on spotify if you're listening in from the trains and like the cars wherever [00:06:21.630] you know that's dope yeah man it's about consistency so let's let's knock the [00:06:27.430] paperwork out of the way all right good morning good evening good night good afternoon good dusk [00:06:32.030] dawn shout out to my spotify listenership apple podcast audible amazon music samsung pod chaser [00:06:38.910] deezer google podcasts youtube if you're watching in thanks for letting us get dressed [00:06:45.150] coming live from my voice to your phone computer headphones tv car stereo i don't know if anybody [00:06:52.840] checked on the smartwatch just yet but uh last week they weren't bluetooth speaker you could [00:06:58.440] have been anywhere in the world but you're here right now take a moment to be present and recognize [00:07:03.220] it is now right now whether you're working running exercising cleaning laying down flying driving [00:07:10.340] be grateful for alive baby failure can be frightening however as winston churchill [00:07:16.100] reminds us success is all about going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm [00:07:20.640] this is i will not lose podcast let's jump right in word so we have jayden ortiz on the podcast [00:07:28.720] this week um i want to just have a conversation father and son it's a cool medium we share a lot [00:07:37.500] of things and one of them is audio and podcasting so i want to let jayden talk about some of the [00:07:43.060] stuff he's into he's been telling me about this andrew tate and i had to do a little research [00:07:49.000] because i swear there's two different internets yeah there's like them like they say so much bad [00:07:54.300] stuff about him but then there's also really good stuff about him that what he does and helps with [00:07:58.460] oh man it's just like i did you hear he got arrested i did hear he got arrested yeah i [00:08:04.800] guess he was like i don't know he first i read one article it was like about him texting underage [00:08:10.760] girls and then he was also like trafficking a woman and stuff yeah i read that was a human [00:08:16.380] trafficking one mob ties and he's out now or something like that right yeah is he i heard [00:08:23.320] that he was in jail for like 40 minutes and uh i mean i wouldn't be surprised man's rich he got [00:08:29.040] mad money's bail them out anytime like makes sense i mean i hate to laugh it's nuts i was [00:08:35.660] reading something on him that he said he knows i guess he lived in romania and yeah uh he knows [00:08:41.800] it's corrupt so he likes to live there because he'd rather be able to pay somebody off he gets [00:08:47.460] a speeding ticket i'm not quoting this like this yeah my listeners know this is not a spot for [00:08:52.340] research like i'm not breaking news or anything but i do want to be educated i want to know what [00:08:57.160] you know and it's like like who is this guy is it james bond is it even real like is he i don't even [00:09:04.060] know let me ask you is this a real is he real like yeah anybody actually seen him um i'm pretty yeah [00:09:09.880] he's been seen in the streets a couple of times uh i would like if you told me he was an ai yeah [00:09:14.740] but uh so some good things world champion and kid boxing right yeah twice he's two titles um i guess [00:09:24.840] yeah i guess he fought two times and never lost no no no he fought more than yeah more than two [00:09:30.700] times but i'm pretty sure but i'm pretty sure he won like a two twice at least and then he started [00:09:36.220] laying off i heard he was supposed to fight jake paul i don't know no i think that was [00:09:40.160] or yeah or tristan one of those two yeah yeah one of the andrew tate brothers were trying to [00:09:47.320] fight jake paul in the ring well when i saw there was a second one i was like there's a tristan too [00:09:52.980] i was like oh man so i had to do it but they had um i guess it they made their fame through like a [00:10:00.680] webcam business yeah you know about this um i've seen a couple of their clips on tiktok and stuff [00:10:06.500] mostly edits and stuff i've seen a lot of those so wait what are you exactly seeing like women i mean [00:10:13.120] no like he's just talking with his brother and i guess a couple of his friends they're just going [00:10:18.820] back and forth talking about just like how like certain stuff works like they were talking about [00:10:24.880] how like they'll make money sometimes and all that stuff so it's mostly just that stuff mostly [00:10:30.460] on TikTok they usually you know TikTok be acting all right sometimes so they're mostly just just [00:10:36.180] standing there and just clipping out some of the words that he'd be saying and making them more [00:10:40.400] misogynistic than he's really trying to say but I'm not trying to follow under him but at the [00:10:46.080] same time like i'm not really trying to be anything like him but i like the way he his [00:10:51.060] perspective on money is and how to make it and stuff well i mean you don't get that kind of [00:10:56.720] following without being a charismatic person so you can admit that he has charisma but there's [00:11:02.060] like a little little bit a lot of people there's i mean that could be a good or bad thing so let's [00:11:08.040] talking about the the misogyny like do you understand why people are so against it some of [00:11:16.360] it and i mean yeah i see like a little bit of it dude i was just watching i was um watching a tiktok [00:11:25.700] and it was uh boys in the hood do you know about this movie um i've heard about it i gotta show [00:11:33.950] you these clips i mean ice cube is in it and it's just like you cannot make a movie like this [00:11:40.590] nowadays and stuff but that's how the times were like they just talked super down on women [00:11:45.290] he has a clip i know if i tell you you're gonna laugh they're gonna mess it up so we'll do it [00:11:51.310] you guys know which clip i'm talking about the barbie clip where she's like she's like who are [00:11:56.330] you calling a hoe and he was like oh i'm sorry and i was like oh man he's just calling women the b [00:12:02.390] word like and it was on tv it was completely regular um women were thought of as less than [00:12:11.100] men i mean they couldn't i mean it's been like that for a while yeah well yeah there's still a [00:12:17.200] lot of it but when you have like a me too movement or you have something that empowers women like you [00:12:22.340] have to understand how scared women were to even speak up against something going on so like [00:12:28.980] it's you don't want to overuse your power not in martial arts not in wrestling nothing like [00:12:36.420] you don't want to abuse power cops shouldn't do it like men shouldn't do it women shouldn't do it [00:12:41.580] but it's just disgusting so you gotta understand why this stuff's bad what he says but yeah it's [00:12:50.080] i don't know you live in a different generation than me i don't know how you guys are doing with [00:12:55.000] like misogyny and racism and all that sort of stuff but i mean yeah you live in a you live in [00:13:04.950] a wild world but so i guess he his i said his father was a chess player did you see this [00:13:11.810] he doesn't really i've never really heard him talk about his dad at all actually [00:13:17.690] so what kind of good stuff does he say about making money that you're taking him i see you [00:13:23.300] bought yourself a Gatorade and this is not a sponsorship or an endorsement, but where we go [00:13:30.700] to Wawa, we said, let's get something to drink and let's record a podcast. We can get this. And I [00:13:35.260] said, hey man, they got a two for five on this rain. You want to pick one? I picked one. He said, [00:13:41.040] nah dad, I got my card. I'm good. And he comes up and pulls up to the self checkout with three [00:13:46.700] drinks like oh man i guess you're just getting stuff for for all weekend but that's wild um [00:13:54.020] i'm proud of you man to have your own money and do some stuff i know you've already come out and [00:14:00.100] worked with me done some filming what do you you have fun doing that sort of stuff i liked when we [00:14:05.440] were um at towards the crayola factory doing that walking around i liked when we filmed the [00:14:10.020] a lot too oh that edit's just about done um i'll show you that footage i'll show you that footage [00:14:17.680] i'll remind you when we get it off um i don't think i could throw it up for the podcast because [00:14:22.500] that's like for a client but um it's cool excuse me one second oh that energy drink hit different [00:14:31.110] but nah so what else are we into pokemon cards i mean yeah we do a lot of those together a lot [00:14:39.360] i mean the encounter and stuff going towards their little comic book shop [00:14:43.920] dude i just wrote them a review on google yesterday because i stopped by my phone asked [00:14:48.980] me what did you think of the encounter and i was like all right let me get in my review bag real [00:14:53.240] quick and i was just like you know for generations i don't know but it was like that they kept they [00:14:59.780] kept us out of trouble man like go into the comic book store the only trouble you had to worry about [00:15:05.180] was maybe getting beaten up or robbed for your Pokemon cards [00:15:08.120] because it was like two, three miles. [00:15:10.280] But we were talking with my mom, your grandma. [00:15:16.390] What show was she watching? [00:15:18.110] Either Leave it to Beaver, one of those old like Nick at Night, [00:15:21.210] black and white shows. [00:15:23.030] And they're having a skit where the person was in second grade [00:15:28.340] and they walk downtown to get something. [00:15:31.020] And it's like, dude, second graders don't walk around nowadays. [00:15:35.540] yeah no you just see them walk in like maybe they don't even walk themselves to the bus stop anymore [00:15:41.220] like i don't know that's wild but i don't know man times are times are different they [00:15:49.580] i'll watch boys in the hood with you sometime that's a just a completely different type of movie [00:15:55.440] um there's a lot of things from my generation that just would never be done again even in [00:16:03.200] video games dude video you understand how video games are misogynistic i mean i've seen like i [00:16:09.200] don't really know i haven't really played those type of video games well it's like uh it's not [00:16:15.160] so much that they i don't even know if misogynistic is the word but like they have like do you know [00:16:21.060] laura croft is tomb raider uh nah they make women that don't actually look like real with like they [00:16:30.460] don't look like women in real life oh yeah they're like really big-breasted and like super athletic [00:16:36.120] it just doesn't exist so these are clearly men making these models of women and stuff like that [00:16:43.400] you need it's a lot in anime too oh yeah i guess you're right there's a lot of that in anime if [00:16:50.260] you watch the dragon ball z you can see like chichi and all those people yeah i guess you're [00:16:56.530] right uh i don't know if chichi is as bad as laura croft but no they went on to make movies about uh [00:17:06.900] or movies out of those video games madness uh let's see i'm trying to think pokemon cards are [00:17:16.120] still around those are probably going to be around for a while i feel like logan paul made them worth [00:17:20.240] a lot more when he made his unboxing video when he was doing that stream on his podcast and he [00:17:26.440] was selling some of the cards i feel like when he was opening that first edition box his first ever [00:17:30.760] was when he went to that one guy's house and got like this like like out and back a graded 10 [00:17:36.760] charizard first edition that was crazy what if you see edition charizard if you see like one of his [00:17:44.260] when he was going to his box back he has it like on a chain and he it's like he has it in a chain [00:17:49.920] like the whole entire slap [00:17:51.280] Logan has the [00:17:52.480] yeah [00:17:53.040] he has a chain on [00:17:54.560] and it's all [00:17:55.900] crested diamonds [00:17:56.860] around it and stuff [00:17:58.200] I'm not gonna lie [00:17:58.960] that's a sick flex [00:18:00.000] yeah [00:18:00.960] I'd be like [00:18:02.020] whoever knew [00:18:02.540] a Pokemon card [00:18:03.220] to be a flex [00:18:03.940] like [00:18:04.260] well no [00:18:05.530] do you know what it is [00:18:06.450] he's kind of got [00:18:07.910] the creative freedom [00:18:09.190] to be able to [00:18:10.590] do what he wants [00:18:11.910] and it's still [00:18:12.570] considered cool [00:18:13.410] like you have to realize [00:18:14.390] like a lot of things [00:18:15.310] go out [00:18:15.830] you'll see me do this a lot [00:18:17.470] but I get flamed [00:18:18.270] for everything [00:18:18.950] that i do that i think myself is cool because i don't really have to like i don't have a job that [00:18:25.310] requires me to have a certain thing like i keep myself kept but i don't have like a uniform or [00:18:32.790] i don't have to be outside of myself when i wear collar shirts and ties and stuff that's because [00:18:37.630] i really do feel comfortable wearing that stuff and i like that sort of style but look at you [00:18:43.690] with the drip man what is that i don't know um i kind of just got this from like a little place [00:18:50.090] what brand is it uh it doesn't matter it's like i don't even know what the brand is i just picked [00:18:56.530] it up and got it and liked it it's fire you could do some accessories with it i like your glasses [00:19:01.130] with it too yeah but might have to go and get some haircuts this weekend gotta get uh gotta get [00:19:08.580] lined up but yeah so i want to mess around we should after we record make like uh like some [00:19:15.820] music you might get me back in my bag dude i would record to get on a track with you [00:19:20.820] it'd be dope we just got to find something that would be that it would be about but i don't even [00:19:27.590] know what else uh what else has been going on with you man this is something this is a chance [00:19:33.230] where you could tell yourself goals that you want to have you can like that's what i do all the time [00:19:39.370] i told myself i wanted to start training jujitsu you train you're a martial artist shout your gym [00:19:45.390] out um tiger showmans go in bethlehem nice a little place you can i pretty sure they have [00:19:51.750] some in new york if you listen out in new york you can go to there hit that gym over there too [00:19:57.150] i know my friend dm he he literally lives in new york and comes all the way down here on the [00:20:02.670] weekends just to train at the rgm in bethlehem wow yeah that's sick who's your sensei um sensei [00:20:10.050] villafang that's dope man yeah really funny guy yeah i like him i like him yeah we're you're [00:20:18.290] gonna be over there tomorrow and i'm gonna be over at uh exalt jujitsu with uh evan robinson [00:20:25.990] 360 fitness i'm gonna get you in there i don't know that he trains kids um but he knows a guy [00:20:32.830] that does look at you looking at your phone go ahead check it that's why i don't that's why i [00:20:36.970] don't keep mine during the podcast no just in case it's important just check it real quick [00:20:41.030] could be your mom or something i was just um some snapchat that's really it but your girlfriend [00:20:48.750] probably [00:20:49.590] goofball never know nah but always keep one yeah for sure keep one it's really not a like that's [00:21:01.030] the thing dude like having multiple girlfriends having like i feel like that starts to mess you [00:21:06.870] up a lot having multiple not that like i know there's like some like um i don't know like in [00:21:14.070] the lgbtq i know there's like some things that it's like normal to have a bunch of different [00:21:18.870] girlfriends and boyfriends and stuff but i guess that's what they call it like polyamorous or [00:21:24.570] something polyamorous yeah but i don't know is polyamory lgbtq um i think it is actually [00:21:31.590] i think it's a part of it they i think they have their own flag and everything i think like straight [00:21:35.890] people could oh that may be i don't know you you know more than me on that not really my choice [00:21:42.230] what you do but i just just be a gentleman man like it works out open all that stuff yeah chivalry [00:21:49.210] that sort of stuff and people are like wow did you go to the military what'd you do like it's [00:21:54.410] nah i'm just a nice person you know exactly yeah say my mom raised me um that's dope though [00:22:01.690] but yeah big difference from between money and my dad the sort of stuff me and my dad are into [00:22:08.490] fishing shooting um i gotta teach you to shoot soon yeah i started showing a bow and arrow a [00:22:16.330] little bit that's sick my buddy uh shout out to my buddy tim wood he's probably listening at some [00:22:22.250] point if not i'll clip this and send it to him but he sent me a video of how to make a bow and [00:22:28.630] i'm watching it i dude i wanted to make a tiktok on it but he like he goes and so let's just say [00:22:33.970] this is the bow yeah um for those of you guys just listening i'm holding my hand flat and there's an [00:22:39.950] arc where he wants it to curve a little bit so he uses sharpie on the tip and he uses pencil [00:22:48.490] real lightly here yeah so when he goes and starts carving it the pencil comes off lightly so it's [00:22:54.190] less here the sharpie bleeds into the wood so he has to scrape more and more off and it makes that [00:23:01.250] natural arc so he's sending updates as he's like sanding and doing this different stuff explaining [00:23:06.990] what's going on i'm like oh man i wanted to have him on the podcast he just started a reptile cage [00:23:12.410] business so um i will have him reach out give me his uh woodworking information and we'll go ahead [00:23:20.910] and throw it up at some point i'm pretty sure one of my teachers have a little word about like a [00:23:25.490] like a woodworking business out here somewhere i think it's like towards out here but yeah he [00:23:30.910] has like a little business and stuff that's dope that's like a craft i can respect people like a [00:23:36.310] second job for him because he's a teacher on the free time and then he's just like has his own [00:23:41.550] woodworking business on the other hand he's a teacher on the free time now i understand what [00:23:46.290] you mean yeah no that's sick and like he sells pieces or um i guess so he knows a lot about that [00:23:54.510] stuff right now i'm industrial arts so we're doing like i'm in woodshop right now so we're [00:23:59.750] getting making puzzle pieces and stuff oh sick yeah i made a a car uh like do you remember the [00:24:08.960] pinewood derby um yeah yeah you carve your own car yeah that stuff bro i remember the one time [00:24:16.840] that my dad will tell you i won't put them on blast but i was in boy scouts and we had to do [00:24:21.420] this pinewood derby and i can't remember if it was honestly i wouldn't be surprised if it was me [00:24:30.140] if i was the kid and it was just so embarrassing that i suppressed the thought and pretended it [00:24:35.220] with some other kid but you get a block of wood yeah and it has two little slits in it that you [00:24:41.880] can put axles other than that you have to carve the like the car itself like the body of the car [00:24:48.720] yeah you know it you know primewood derby i heard i seen it a lot of times on the tv shows and stuff [00:24:54.520] and like little shows that i used to watch it was like a rite of passage so yeah one kid forgot to [00:25:01.440] open the box but didn't want to get left out so his dad just put the wheels on the block of wood [00:25:08.060] and all the other cars are carved out and aerodynamic and they go super fast and it was [00:25:13.580] like this was just a block and he was like he flipped it around the other way to put what [00:25:20.240] should have been the trunk so it was heavier so it would roll faster and it was just like oh that's [00:25:26.000] embarrassing man as madness but oh man did he win no i don't i don't remember that but it's funny [00:25:35.380] no it's weird because you have memories as kids and you remember certain things but you don't [00:25:40.940] learn at least i didn't learn till i was older like you got to be careful what you put [00:25:44.780] in your head you know like even watching violent videos on the internet like [00:25:51.400] i don't know you go through a phase they had uh the internet was really bad when i was in like [00:25:58.480] high school and stuff but people do heinous things and yeah i just like i like how like [00:26:06.400] reddit tags it are you on reddit at all no i'm not really on reddit that much what do you do [00:26:11.420] just talk tiktok snapchat um i'm mostly yeah i'm on snapchat tiktok instagram mostly stuff like [00:26:17.220] that i see you on instagram yeah a little bit not too much no i see you posting creative pictures [00:26:23.970] but instagram would be a cool outlet for your edits tiktok's probably the best yeah tiktok's [00:26:28.390] the best to get the most like views and stuff a lot i remember a couple of my videos get like 1k [00:26:33.710] views that's dope yeah that's dope um i'm gonna have to have you do some edits yo i wonder what [00:26:40.370] this clip will do we'll put together a clip of this episode for some stuff pull some things out [00:26:45.870] but well excuse me it's a great conversation with you man yeah you're not like uh you're not really [00:26:54.180] shy no i'm not shy at all like i'm not really camera shy that much like i can talk and stuff [00:26:59.840] in front of the camera it doesn't really make me that nervous i think it's a good thing for like [00:27:04.640] youtubers and stuff if you ever watch like the adrian harden or jideon or low for any of those [00:27:10.660] people like dizzy dill the canal joseph like all those people just doing some different things [00:27:17.720] they're not shot for the camera they go to different places they have the fun they live [00:27:21.840] their life you know yeah definitely it's a lot of work though dude like for one of those videos i [00:27:30.040] watch one of those like they go around they do stuff they get footage but it's a lot of editing [00:27:35.200] work that's why i told you bring your laptop over like even if we just mess around i show you some [00:27:41.260] things with edits or we pull it like you don't want to get to the so when we shot your christmas [00:27:49.330] concert yeah i have the footage for that and i at least want to take the stuff of like your little [00:27:54.070] brother and get it so your mom has like that footage but we don't have to do the whole video [00:28:00.410] like if we were gonna do that that concert was on like the 17th like that week we had to edit it [00:28:06.310] it's really easy to fall behind even like when i run a weekly podcast i find myself like [00:28:11.930] oh man i got and i don't want to say oh man because i do enjoy doing it but it's like you [00:28:17.770] know i have to remind myself dude somebody's gonna and then you're like you go and you look [00:28:21.270] at your analytics you're like oh man i should have had thousands of views on that i put so [00:28:25.950] much time but yeah you don't always get like the thing that you think you're gonna get [00:28:30.110] that's like a lot of thing with social media like you think you're gonna get millions of views like [00:28:34.170] if i post this edit i'm just gonna get a million views i like it so much but but reality you [00:28:39.670] probably maybe maximum maybe get a hundred or something not even maybe sometimes 70 or eight [00:28:45.690] like a views or like likes or anything you're not always gonna hit that high goal but you can [00:28:51.070] but it's always a possibility if you keep up on the grind and stuff you just you once you got you [00:28:55.790] gotta climb the mountain you start out at the bottom and then you gotta climb to the top you [00:28:59.990] know this guy jay with the gems yeah oh man i mean i remember when i was younger i started out [00:29:07.090] like i was still probably in um elementary school and they were showing and i was starting out with [00:29:13.870] maybe the maximum i had like 75 followers and then i'm and then i just got into the groove [00:29:19.490] for tiktok and over time i started grinding up and building a lot of stuff with a lot of views [00:29:24.510] and stuff heck yeah what are you at now i think i'm at maybe 5k something that's dope man and you [00:29:32.470] know when you're at like 100k you're gonna look back at this episode and be like i had 5k that [00:29:38.270] was so little yeah but reality is like five if you really think about it like it's so small number [00:29:43.790] because you see all these people with a million followers and like all these people with like a [00:29:48.030] hundred million and like hitting that goals and stuff see even like the big tech tech stars with [00:29:53.610] Like, with one bill and stuff. [00:29:56.390] Like, you're not always going to hit that. [00:29:57.690] Like, if you think about it, just think about 5,000 people in one room. [00:30:02.930] I do that. [00:30:03.630] A lot of people. [00:30:04.250] Yeah, if you think about it, that's the best way to think about it. [00:30:07.470] Like, people think, oh, man, I got to go work harder and all that stuff. [00:30:11.110] But in reality, if you think of 5,000 people in one room, like, dang, that's still a lot of people. [00:30:15.910] You got to be happy for that, at least. [00:30:17.810] Be thankful for your fans and all that stuff. [00:30:21.390] People that are, like, watching your videos. [00:30:23.030] dude i'm super thankful for people watching my videos like even a hundred like likes and like [00:30:29.870] 200 views is like still a lot for like that maybe at my christmas concert that i had at my school [00:30:36.990] maybe like the maximum people was probably like 200 people there and if you look at that crowd [00:30:42.930] there was still a big crowd room yeah no 5 000 is like remember when we went to see uh lehigh verse [00:30:50.250] yeah that whole stadium [00:30:52.290] that whole stadium was sold out [00:30:54.330] 10,000 people so you take [00:30:56.550] half of that whole stadium and you [00:30:58.550] think that many people like look [00:31:00.250] saw your stuff but then you get into [00:31:02.550] looking at like how many people engaged [00:31:04.590] like one thing that I [00:31:06.450] noticed is people [00:31:08.110] people tend [00:31:10.630] to retain and watch through [00:31:12.390] a lot of the stuff like when we watch the [00:31:14.390] analytics I'll show you the analytics for this episode [00:31:16.570] it'll be dope but [00:31:18.010] But, yeah, you just you got to be thankful. [00:31:21.530] You got to put it out. [00:31:22.390] But you're going to offend somebody. [00:31:24.150] You understand? [00:31:25.130] Yeah. [00:31:26.070] Everybody's going to like your stuff. [00:31:27.310] It's going to take it out of like and just take out the proportion. [00:31:29.890] Someone is going to be something. [00:31:31.730] Yeah. [00:31:31.910] They're going to clip just a little portion of this episode and be like, he was talking with his son about what? [00:31:37.590] Like, yeah, like they just be doing the most. [00:31:40.330] But for all these people over here that are worried, there's all these people over here that are going to be like, wow, that's a great conversation. [00:31:49.350] Like, you have to understand, even like the Andrew Tate people my age and older just heard of Andrew Tate. [00:31:58.190] Like, he just wasn't in our Internet. [00:31:59.870] He's not selling the class to us. [00:32:01.650] It just didn't exist. [00:32:03.150] Because he started, I feel like, I think he started mostly on Instagram. [00:32:06.810] I heard he got banned from Instagram. [00:32:08.590] and then people started finding him then making more on tiktok then became a whole social media [00:32:14.250] thing on tiktok i'm pretty sure it's not like all that stuff he had a webcam business yeah so he had [00:32:20.490] women getting naked on camera making porn oh no yeah porn yeah yeah and it's like it gets all [00:32:31.160] weird and stuff you know what i mean like whether or not they were actively about it or whether or [00:32:36.420] he was like a pimp and forcing them to do it everything so you people say that if you just [00:32:44.220] didn't say it as direct as tate the things that he says aren't misogynistic it's just how he says [00:32:49.900] it but no like he also knows the game he knows if he says something wild and he says something [00:32:56.360] outlandish we're gonna react exactly it's gonna go viral and stuff so i was looking a little bit [00:33:01.620] into the affiliate links things like that um i could see why he's so wildly popular yeah but [00:33:07.740] it's like i could very easy just go on and start flaming him and do everything i haven't done enough [00:33:13.960] research i don't know i just my job my job in terms of i will not lose or trying to find some [00:33:21.680] sort of success out of the failure is make sure you understand you sound like you completely get [00:33:27.860] what you're yeah what you're bringing in and what it how it could be bad or whatever like [00:33:34.560] if you can listen to andrew tate and still respect women like i i'm not researched enough and i [00:33:42.420] really don't have the power to tell you okay you can't consume that at all just like make the [00:33:48.300] decision when you take anything this goes for anything when you take it in like you got to look [00:33:55.080] at both sides you gotta look at all the sides one of uh the things uh my man charlemagne the god [00:34:00.140] said um something like if you have 10 people you know you're gonna have four people that [00:34:06.420] i'll never like it four people that'll love it and two people that are still undecided and you [00:34:12.500] need to focus on those people that are undecided and get them to like it those if you spend time [00:34:17.620] in comments like engaging with people about what they don't do dude people of tiktok is brutal [00:34:23.720] yeah tiktok really is brutal stuff tiktok is like if you're on youtube shorts you get all [00:34:29.240] these hate comments like on tiktok and stuff it's just tiktok people are brutal like there i remember [00:34:34.920] there was like i don't know what was this guy's name but with somebody like the charlie d'amelio [00:34:39.800] you know who she is like the biggest tiktok star was on there and then you had some like like guy [00:34:45.240] that was making like these stupid videos too just like charlie d'amelio and he like people were so [00:34:51.800] heated that he was starting to surpass him then they made like all these different things like [00:34:55.980] all these videos of people saying all these other things about it and it's like finally he surpassed [00:35:01.120] it much charlotte emilio and i think charlotte emilio started getting fans started getting mad [00:35:05.980] about it like it's so dumb like you're watching somebody just do dances all day but it's so [00:35:11.300] addicting at the same time yeah dude you gotta that scares me it depends what type of like [00:35:16.620] a tiktok you're watching like there's different sides like it's like the scary thing about it is [00:35:21.940] like if you watch a certain amount of videos it pops up what you want to see exactly like it just [00:35:28.040] knows like it starts to know you more about you and stuff like i'm pretty sure like people were [00:35:32.620] for a long time they were trying to shut down tiktok i remember when trump was the president [00:35:37.740] yeah no they're still they just put something where government phones or they're trying to [00:35:43.380] put it where government phones can't have it on i mean yeah so do you understand why not not really [00:35:51.280] i understand some of it but not as much as i would want to know it's an invasive app dude [00:35:57.160] yeah let me tell you a couple things that scare me about tiktok and this is me just being an adult [00:36:02.000] you have to understand my parents came from like don't post anything on the internet at all it's [00:36:08.620] It's always going to be there forever and type stuff. [00:36:09.960] No, your mic. [00:36:10.840] So your phone, your camera mic is recording us right now. [00:36:14.640] Yeah. [00:36:15.040] And if we talk about something too much, it's going to show up in the algorithm. [00:36:20.280] That already happens with Google and stuff like that. [00:36:23.160] Yeah. [00:36:23.300] TikTok is like, all right, so in order to make your stuff relevant, we need to get your location, where you're going, your messages. [00:36:30.520] We need to be able to read your context. [00:36:32.720] We need to be able to read your snaps. [00:36:34.680] And like, I don't know. [00:36:36.300] I'm not a developer. [00:36:38.060] i work with developers but i could just go by what they say like yeah why does it need so much [00:36:43.620] permission and uh you know another thing is america doesn't like when other governments [00:36:49.500] have things so i guess it's like the chinese government yeah i'm pretty sure that's what it is [00:36:54.820] if you told people in the 60s 70s that we were letting a software from a foreign government and [00:37:01.600] we just put it on our phones and gave it access to whatever you're crazy you know what i mean [00:37:06.400] but now everybody's like i'll be up if i can get more likes so yeah what scares me is you i don't [00:37:12.320] you can't leave the app like if you hit leave it just goes to another tiktok you know what i'm [00:37:19.410] talking about like at least on my android i have the i do the back swipe on the right back and [00:37:25.230] it like you have to hit it twice in order to leave the app or something like that i don't know but [00:37:32.070] no it scares me how addicting it is too you know like social media is terribly terribly we'll put [00:37:41.310] it this way none of the people that made facebook twitter any of that they don't let their kids use [00:37:46.250] yeah no that's enough for me to twitter's been coming like towards a different like a more like [00:37:54.320] adult website like before it was like they started out like mostly for like older people like how [00:37:59.600] facebook is starting out it's turning more into like a worse version of facebook like it's having [00:38:06.120] all that stuff like that's i feel like some people are calling towards reddit a lot more because you [00:38:10.080] can see a lot less stuff than you would want to see scrolling on things reddit is fire you know [00:38:15.820] you know i got nana on reddit oh yeah that that's a lot of things because didn't nana say she wanted [00:38:20.880] to leave twitter just because all the stuff that's been popping up on there lately yeah it's kind of [00:38:26.560] like only fans right now that's kind of what it is jesus christ oh man um no i i think she [00:38:35.100] has the right idea i use reddit because you can search for internet that you like but i'm not [00:38:41.940] really on i i got off facebook i'm back on there now a little bit like promoting the podcast but [00:38:47.340] like it doesn't really feel genuine like yeah i haven't interacted with that audience people i've [00:38:52.600] interacted with people on facebook i've kept facebook messenger up so all these people that [00:38:57.520] are like oh you left facebook dude my name's there you can click message you could send me whatever [00:39:03.360] uh but i don't know you're never gonna make everybody happy yeah for real um i think the [00:39:09.900] best thing to do is just make yourself happy like i don't i can't know what other people are [00:39:19.720] gonna think or other people are gonna like but like it's just a lot of things that like you're [00:39:24.220] not gonna like they know what other people are gonna like but as long as like a light at least [00:39:28.300] like a how do you take like half your split like half your followers apart like in 100 see if you [00:39:33.300] have a hundred followers not your whole 100 followers not everybody's gonna interact with [00:39:38.060] that video not everybody's gonna like that video at least maybe i want to say 25 of your followers [00:39:42.960] will love some of your videos and will like watching them but the other percent that you [00:39:47.820] have is probably gonna just scroll right past it and it's just whatever yeah that's also why you [00:39:53.920] got to make an engaged audience you can't have people who subscribe just based off whatever i [00:39:58.620] can already tell you right now people are gonna really wish you're back on the show people are [00:40:04.680] gonna really want you on the show just because you get it so much earlier than i did that like [00:40:11.840] you just can't give a damn what people think yeah like it just if they're not gonna pay your bills [00:40:17.750] or feed your family yeah why does it matter at least i'm having fun and you guys could have your [00:40:23.610] own opinions everybody's gonna have their own opinions everybody's gonna share different [00:40:26.610] opinions with what you have and what you do you just gotta just like do what you want to do [00:40:31.750] like what you want to like yeah as long as you're not hurting anybody yeah as long as you're just [00:40:36.890] like just chilling doing your own thing as long as you're doing that and no one's no i wouldn't [00:40:42.470] care but if you're gonna get a bad comment you're having fun doing it remember i'm gonna look back [00:40:47.370] and like get one bad view on this episode right here like what does it matter like i had [00:40:53.470] fun doing it and all that stuff so like i'm having fun talking imagine telling a kid they don't know [00:40:59.450] what they're talking about like imagine a grown man in the comments talking about i don't know [00:41:04.210] what jayden said about pokemon man it's first edition second edition was the bed watch i don't [00:41:09.310] know for real get someone but hey we'll hope it it creates that kind of thing from there [00:41:13.870] no i mean as long as you're not hurting anybody yeah um so if you ever want to use the studio [00:41:20.950] um this is yours man i got a oh hold up i got you right now oh the microphone [00:41:31.260] this is a sure sm57 yeah this would be very nice and towards atlanta when i'm living there [00:41:43.800] that is fire yeah all right man well i am going to wrap it up so according to mr beast everybody [00:41:52.560] already clicked out
